Ways of the Monks - Ways of Power. The Danubian Principalities as Nodes in the Transimperial Space
The project investigated relations between mobility and state building processes in the case of monkish connections in the “trans-imperial” Southeast Europe from the 14th through the 17th centuries. The Danubian Principalities Wallachia and Moldavia have served as cultural, political and religious communication hubs in the orthodox world. “Trans-imperial” not only described the crossing and transgression of empires and their boundaries, but also points out in diachronic understanding the transition from the Byzantine Empire to the Ottoman Empire.
