Organized by Bernhard Gissibl and Matti Leprêtre at the IEG, Mainz. The aim of this symposium is to explore the specific effects of the industrialization of drug production on the colonial appropriation of medicinal plants, with the eventual goal of contemplating a collective thematic issue for an academic journal. While the focus is on the German Empire, contributions on other imperial formations will provide a transnational perspective.
