Research projects:

"In frölichkeit Sein lob außbreitt." Women and the Formation of Protestant Piety during the Reformation and the Confessional Age

Through the publication of prayer and devotional books, women from different denominations and social positions contributed to the perpetuation of Reformation ideas in society between 1520 and 1650. By indexing and analysing the sources, the project inscribes these writings and their authors as important actors of the Reformation and the confessional era in the history of Christianity in the early modern period.

Between the Home Front and the Battlefield – "Images of War" in Protestant Sermons and Devotional Literature of World War I

Andrea Hofmann's project examined the image of the war as it was painted in sermons and devotional writings written in the years 1914-1918 in Southwest Germany (Palatinate, Baden, Württemberg, Hesse, Alsace-Lorraine). The sources examined clearly show the close interlocking of church and politics and the associated creation of new and the breaking up of existing political and confessional differences.
