New Translation of an EGO article by Ralph Tuchtenhagen

The article "Northeastern Europe" by Ralph Tuchtenhagen has been translated into English by Christopher Reid and the translation has been published on European History Online (EGO) under the auspices of the IEG.
Historical areas, like "periods," "powers," "events," and other categories, serve as historiographical tools that help to structure and clarify the complex and often confusing contexts of the past. This is especially true for a concept like "Northeastern Europe."

For this reason, the introduction will examine in detail the history of its spatio-terminological and conceptual foundations, before the second part explores the temporal rhythms and the epochs of the historical area.
