Applications open for NFDI4Memory Summer School
The application phase for the second NFDI4Memory Summer School under the topic: ‘The white elephant in the room: Data quality management in historical disciplines’ has started. The Summer School will take place from 10 to 12 September 2025 at the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe in Marburg. Applications can be submitted up to and including 14 March 2025 via the link below. Many aspects relating to data quality are present in everyday life and society: be it data law issues, challenges in the access and security of data, e.g. in social media, or the call for documentation procedures for the use of artificial intelligence. It is therefore largely self-evident that high quality should also be guaranteed for research data. The definition, measurement and assurance of data quality are particularly important in digital historical research, which is currently becoming increasingly differentiated at an ever faster pace.
During the Summer School, you will have the opportunity to acquire practical know-how for the efficient and sustainable processing, management and publication of historical research data. Using concrete case studies, you will learn how to apply digital tools and best practices for quality assurance. The acquired knowledge and practical experience will give you the tools to make data quality measurable and verifiable for data sets you have created yourself. In exchange with established researchers and FDM specialists from the field of digital history and LAM (Libraries, Archives, Museums), participation in the Summer School also offers the opportunity to create your own personal networks in this field.
