New publication "Rezeption und Memoria der Reformation im östlichen Europa"
Henning P. Jürgens, member of the academic staff at the IEG, and Ulrich A. Wien, University of Koblenz-Landau, have jointly published the volume "Rezeption und Memoria der Reformation im östlichen Europa", volume 142 of the publications of the Institute of European History Mainz (VIEG).
The volume presents contributions by researchers from Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.
The title is available via Open Access from Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht.

Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht write on their website that the authors focus on phenomena and processes of the culture of remembrance of the Reformation from the 16th to the 20th century in Eastern Central Europe, concentrating on striking examples: Topics such as historiography, visual arts, literature and architecture are dealt with as well as the characteristics of the festive and memorial culture and their interactions with the respective political and religious circumstances. Geographically, the volume covers Transylvania, Hungary, Slovakia, Bohemia, Silesia, Pomerania, Poland, Prussia, the Baltic states and St Petersburg. The multitude of questions offers numerous possibilities for transfer. The volume does not formulate a summarising summary, but rather aims to provide new ideas for dealing with the reception of the Reformation in East Central Europe.
