Workshop "Migration und Humandifferenzierung" ("Mobility and Organisational Processes")
The research department "Mobilität und Ordnungsprozesse" ("Mobility and Organisational Processes") of the DFG Collaborative Research Centre 1482 Human Differentiation at the University of Mainz is organising an internal workshop on the topic of "Migration und Humandifferenzierung" ("‘Migration and Human Differentiation") in which members of the research department will come together with invited guests from the Collaborative Research Centre Production of Migration based at the University of Osnabrück. The aim is to explore points of contact and opportunities for cooperation between the mobility and migration-related projects.
The event will take place at the IEG, a joint partner of the Collaborative Research Centre on Human Differentiation.
Since 1 July 2021, the German Research Foundation has been funding the Collaborative Research Centre 1482 Human Differentiation at JGU Mainz and the IEG. This joint project focuses on the research question of how historical and contemporary societies categorise their members, separate them spatially and thus suggest different social affiliations to them. Human differentiation will be explicated as a form of cultural differentiation and its connection with forms of social and societal differentiation will be analysed.
The work carried out by the IEG since 2012 as part of its research programme on "Umgang mit Differenz im Europa der Neuzeit" ("Dealing with Difference in Modern Europe") is thus part of an interdisciplinary cultural and social science network. Researchers from the IEG's Department of History, as well as Sociology and Ethnology, American Studies and Linguistics, Theatre, Media Culture and Translation Studies at JGU are involved in the CRC.
