Call for Abstracts: Extended until December 1st 2024: Interdisciplinary Workshop "Rewilding in Europe: Genealogies, Imaginaries and Practices of Conservation in the Anthropocene"
The Call for Abstracts is extended until December 1st 2024. The Leibniz Research Alliance 'Value of the Past' invites you to its interdisciplinary workshop at the Museum Koenig Bonn, Leibniz Centre for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change (LIB). The organizers are Katharina Schmidt-Loske (Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change, Museum Koenig Bonn), Bernhard Gißibl (Leibniz Institute of European History), Jordi Serangeli (University of Tübingen), Pavla Šimková (Collegium Carolinum Munich), Helmuth Trischler (Deutsches Museum Munich), Willi Xylander (Senckenberg Museum für Naturkunde Görlitz) The interdisciplinary workshop, taking place from 19 to 21 March 2025 at the Museum Koenig in Bonn (Germany), will bring together scholars from the humanities and the natural sciences with practitioners of conservation to discuss and reflect on the historical development, the current practice, and the future of rewilding in Europe. Speakers are encouraged to address the following problems and questions, drawing upon the expertise gathered in their academic work as well as through participation in rewilding projects that seek to transform humanoccupied landscapes into new wildernesses. We still seek for oral presentations (ca. 20 min) or posters: Please send proposals with an abstract of max. 300 words and a short CV to Bernhard Gißibl and Katharina Schmidt-Loske by October 31, 2024.
